This calculator helps you track profitability across multiple side hustles and platforms.
Step 1: Go to "Platform Input" and add each platform you use (Etsy, Amazon, Shopify, Fiverr, etc).
Step 2: Enter your monthly revenue, platform fees, payment processing costs, shipping, material costs, advertising spend, and time invested.
Step 3: View your Dashboard to see total profit, best/worst platforms, and effective hourly rates.
Step 4: Use the Hourly Rate view to identify which side hustles are actually worth your time.
Pro Tip: Any platform earning less than $10/hour is a candidate for dropping. Scale platforms earning $30+/hour.
What this dashboard is really telling you
Most side hustlers think theyβre profitable because money keeps coming in. The real test is profit per platform per hour β if one platform pays you $25/hr after fees and another pays $8/hr, the answer isnβt "do more of both." The answer is "cut the loser, double down on the winner, and stop confusing revenue with profit."
What you should do next
- Calculate your true hourly rate per platform. Take net profit (revenue minus fees, materials, ads, shipping), divide by hours worked. The platform with the lowest number β kill it, or fix the funnel.
- Cut your bottom platform within 30 days if itβs under $15/hr. Time you spend on a $7/hr side hustle is time you donβt spend on the $25/hr one. Opportunity cost is the silent profit killer.
- Move 50% of your time to the highest-margin platform for the next 60 days. Test if doubling your effort doubles the revenue (usually yes β platform algorithms reward consistency).
- Set aside 25-30% of all side-hustle income for taxes. Side hustle income is 1099 income β the IRS will want quarterlies. Move it to a separate account the moment it lands.
- Add one recurring/subscription product per platform. One-off sales = unstable income. Even a $5/mo digital product, multiplied across 100 buyers, is $500/mo passive β way more valuable than chasing one-time $50 sales.

One month of data doesnβt reveal which platform is actually winning. 6 months does. Pro tracks every platform, calculates true hourly rate by week, and flags when one is silently bleeding your margin.
